Check this out! That's our man Felix Fernandez on the bill!! What a year it's been Felix!
Earlier this year, we were delighted to tell you all about Felix Fernandez, our International Sales Support, who is working his way to the top in his boxing career. Our previous blog post gave an insight into how hard Felix works both inside and outside the ring.
We're very proud of all his sporting and professional achievements and we're all very excited to see him appear on the bill of a big international event. Felix will be taking part in the 1984 U.S. Olympian Champion Team & The Hispanic World Champion event this evening in Atlanta.
The stars of the evening will undoubtedly be Hector Macho Camacho Jr. (Puerto Rico) vs Alejandro Barrera (Mexico City) and featuring 4-time champion and 96 bonze medal champion, King Zahir Raheem. But the 6 additional bouts, that will feature Jose 'Bazooka' Martinez, Jackie Breitenstein and our very own Felix Fernandez will undoubtedly have everyone on their feet.
Our eyes will be firmly fixed on one particular fight:
'Felix Fernandez vs. John Willoughby'
Felix says "I feel great! I'm very happy to be able to fight on this card and be a part of such a big international event. I've been training very hard and my training team and I are well prepared and ready to take on my opponent."
The evenings event is in honor of the 2012 Olympic Year and is being presented by JJLG Imports. The organisers have arranged for Hispanic and Latin boxing champions to speak to young people from various schools in the metro Atlanta area and surrounding counties in Georgia about the importance of education and being good citizens whilst becoming student athletes. The champions will also be speaking about positive success stories to help inspire the youngsters.
The entire International Boxing Affair Reunion weekend will feature special guests: Hector Macho Camacho Sr, Juan Manuel Marquez (unconfirmed), Pipino Cuevas, Chiquita Gonzales, Nacho Bereinstain representing the Hispanic Boxing Community. Medick Taylor, Evander Holyfield, Tyrell Biggs, Paul Gonzalez, Parnell Whitaker, Marck Brelend, Frant Tate, Henry Telman, Jerry Page, Bergel Hill, and Steve Macoy representing the USA Olympic Boxing Champion Team of 1984.
And if that's not exciting enough, there will be a reunion of the 1984 Olympians including Evander Holyfield!
We want to wish Felix the very best of luck for tonight - we'll all be cheering him on and we're very proud to support him. If you'd like to catch all the action, the fight will be broadcast on national television (Univision and Telemundo).
