Their Royal Highnesses, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, whilst on the final leg of their tour of Canada, will be visiting the Living Laboratory later today, July 7th 2011.
William and Kate will experience, first hand, the impact that the facility has on innovative patient care. The newlyweds will be involved in interactive demonstrations and witness some of the facility's groundbreaking research.
As a fully operational Search and Rescue Pilot with the Royal Air Force, Prince William has shown an interest in healthcare, technology and innovation.
The Ward of the 21st Century Research and Innovation Centre is a Living Laboratory for innovative health research and technology. It is thought that the Royal couple will spend time in the Teaching and Research Wellness building. The Duke and Duchess will be shown the state-of-the-art Healthcare Human Factors and Simulation Laboratory which was first opened in 2009.
iStan, the human patient simulator, is just one aspect of the education facilities that the Royals will be shown. Patient simulation is a hugely important tool in the education and training of health care workers.
