Art & Science: Life on the inside

3B Scientific Human Torso ModelsIt's no secret that, in addition to our passion for science, we're also art lovers too.  We're especially proud to share with you works of art that have been inspired by our own products!

The renowned German artist, Ulrich Lamsfuß approached our team in Hamburg to explain that he was working on several pieces that would be 'looking beneath the surface' of life. He felt that our life-size anatomy models would be perfect to help illustrate his theme.

Ulrich lives and works in Berlin, Germany, and many of his works are based on modern society.  His inspiration often comes from a range of different sources such as advertising, movies, nature, architecture, war and portraits to name just a few.  His work is much admired throughout Europe and in 2005 he shared the Contemporary European Painting Award with Frédérique Loutz.

Ulrich visited our offices with his friend the photographer Heike Ollertz.  He explained that he is passionate about promoting successful businesses that often don't receive the recognition that he feels they deserve.  3B Scientific is often referred to as one of the 'Hidden Champions' in Germany.  The term is used to describe highly successful but little known German businesses.

As a painter, Ulrich is keen to get beneath the surface of his subjects in order to portray them better.  His wonderful paintings of our 3B Scientific anatomy torsos finally went on show during 2012 at his solo exhibition entitled 'Same Same But Different.'

Here are the finished pieces that Ulrich Lamsfuß created,
